About LCC Preschool

The LCC Preschool is a high-quality early childhood program serving children ages 2 to 5. Located on the main campus in Las Vegas, New Mexico, our preschool features two classrooms organized by developmental age groups: one for children ages 2–3 and another for ages 4–5. Each classroom is led by a dedicated teacher and assistant teacher, with an additional full-time floating teacher providing support throughout the day.

Our nurturing, play-based environment encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence while helping every child build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Our program meets rigorous state standards for quality in teaching, learning environments, family engagement, and continuous improvement, giving families confidence that their children are receiving an exceptional early childhood education.

Additionally, LCC Preschool is a state-recognized scratch-cooking school. This means we focus on reducing processed foods and using whole ingredients to prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks each day. Our dedicated chef prepares high-quality meals daily, utilizing fresh produce from the LCC Preschool garden and greenhouse when available.

 

Our Philosophy

LCC Preschool is built on the philosophy that all children are capable, eager learners. We believe children thrive when given the support and encouragement to self-discover through developmentally appropriate play and activities. Our practices are rooted in the belief that true success is achieved through strong, collaborative partnerships among teachers, children, families, and the community.

Because children are naturally inquisitive, we design engaging activities that promote exploration, hands-on research ("why" and "how"), social connection, and the expression of thoughts and feelings. Our play-based curriculum is tailored to each child's unique development, fostering critical thinking, self-regulation, and both fine and gross motor skills.

LCC Preschool prides itself on meeting the unique needs of every child. We partner closely with families and professionals to help children reach their individual milestones. When invited, we actively participate in the IFSP/IEP process, seamlessly integrating a child's specific goals into our classroom curriculum. With parental consent, we welcome outside professionals to provide services directly within our classrooms, as the natural learning environment offers invaluable insights into a child's growth. Together with families, we work to help every child reach their fullest potential, while our staff continuously expands their expertise in supporting children of all diverse abilities.

 

Enrollment Information

Enrollment Requirements

The LCC Preschool serves LCC students, staff, and faculty, and the greater LCC service area. To enroll a child(ren) at the LCC Preschool, the contracting person must adhere to the following criteria:

  • The contracting person must have primary legal custody of the child(ren). This can include: a parent, foster parent, legal guardian, domestic partner, or immediate family member, etc.
  • The contracting person must provide a schedule for each child and adhere to the enrollment schedule.
  • Luna Community College Preschool is licensed for occupancy of up to  40  children ages 2-5.  Enrollment numbers will be determined by the Director of the Preschool and the Preschool Manager based on the needs of the students.
  • Children must be potty-trained (no pull-ups). 
  • Priority enrollment is given to students, staff, faculty, and finally, the community.
  • Returning families must complete information packets yearly and return them to the office manager promptly.

Enrollment Process

  1. Complete the LCC Preschool application, which can be found below. Applications are categorized by date of submission.
  2.  When a complete application is received, the child(ren) will be added to the waitlist based on their age and classroom availability.
  3. When a space becomes available, The LCC Preschool will contact the parents/guardians by email and phone. Parents/Guardians will have 5 business days to accept an available placement. If they decline or do not respond, the position will be offered to the next child on the waiting list, and the application will be removed.
  4. Once a complete application has been received, and the parents/guardians have accepted the available position, parents/ guardians will receive further information on start dates, school supplies, and the child care assistance process.

How to get started:

  1. Complete the Online Application to apply for services, or to request a referral to other Family Services Programs.
  2. Once you’ve submitted your application, you can check your status or upload documents directly through the online portal.

Open from 7:30am to 5:30pm, Mon – Fri

Our classrooms are open for drop-off at 7:30 am, and all classrooms close at 5:30 pm.

Nap Time

Nap time occurs daily between 12:00-2:00 pm. Each child will be provided a cot, but will need to bring a blanket and pillow from home.

*We encourage parents to plan their pick-up time around this schedule so that the children’s sleep is not interrupted.
