General Information
Luna Community College offers distance education courses through its Distance Learning Network (DLN). The DLN is a hybrid telecommunications network offering courses through the internet and video conferencing. LCC's primary mode of delivery for its distance education courses is web-based utilizing the World Wide Web. LCC also offers courses via two-way audio/visual componensts to select sites within its service area.
LCC DLN, directed by Mr. Gerald Ortega, has been made possible through the commitment of LCC and by a five-year Title V grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

An internet connection, adequate computer, 4.0 browser (Netscape or Internet Explorer), and basic web skills are needed to successfully complete online courses. In order to successfully complete an online course students must have the ability to:Two hours of preparation time is expected for every credit hour of class. Students in a three credit hour course could be expected to be in class-related activities on or off-line for about nine hours per week, and more if they are completely new to the material or struggling in the course. The course software, WebCT, automatically records every time a student accesses the class website, keeps track of grades, and facilitates communication between students and instructor. There is complete security of student records accessable only to the instructor.

LCC uses WebCT as its online course delivery software. WebCT is the leading online course delivery software in the world and is be utilized by most New Mexico college and universities. Click here to access the WebCT Login page.

The LCC Learning Resource Center has many online data bases which are available for student use and participates in the regional interlibrary loan program. LCC is currently capable of transmitting courses via its two-way audio/video conferencing network to its satellite campus in Springer. Additional receive sites are planned in Santa Rosa, Raton, and Taos. For a list of courses offered via video conferencing please visit the LCC Schedule of Classes.
