The LCC Adult Basic Education Program is designed to assist students by offering high school diploma equivalency (GED) preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes as well as courses to improve basic skills in preparation for post-secondary level programs.

Some program objectives are:

  • To assist adults in their efforts to complete all requirements for a New Mexico High School Diploma.
  • To assist adult learners in acquiring skills necessary to function in society and or assist their children in their educational process.
  • To assist adults in reaching a level of competency which will enable them to succeed in vocational training or other avenues of post-secondary education.
  • To assist non-English speaking adults in acquiring basic communication skills.

Based on initial assessment, the students are enrolled at the appropriate levels of instruction. Services are then provided through formal course work in basic skills areas, a combination of lecture and laboratory settings, and informal tutorial sessions.
